All About Chris Eckert

Chris is a veteran of Survivor Webcam's short-lived third season (the infamous 3.0 series). Chris was a member of the Chock Dee Tribe, alongside Hanneli, Roger, Simone, Hanneli, Bryan and Ron.

Chris has provided a short column to fill the gap from our columnists who are M.I.A.

Chris Eckert's Guest Column:

May 30 - You guys have no idea how long it took to write this up. I have so much respect for Jason and Simone after this- I wrote about 10 rough drafts, ranging from acting like Simon on American Idol, to a top 10 list, Letterman style… This is ultimately what I came up with.

After my participation in SW 3.0, many interesting things began to happen. I got a few random Instant Messages, and met a lot of interesting people. People actually asked me how I played my game, and what I would have done differently… This had never happened to me before, in any other game I had ever played. I even had a small fan base; there were people who wanted to see ME win! It was amazing, I felt like a total celebrity.

There is no doubt that some of players in the 4.0 season are feeling the same thing. Its exhilarating to have people ask you all these questions, to be interviewed by many, including the ever-so-prestigious Ryan, host of the online show… In fact, I think that’s why many try out for Survivor Webcam, to realize that people care about your next moves, that getting farther in this game is ultimately better for your online persona.

The winner of this season is sure to get many random IM’s, and is going to be asked quite a few questions by the press. He will receive many congratulations, and even a few hate mails from those who did not like his approach to playing. In any case, this finale is sure to bring one to a new SW celebrity status, only achieved so far by Mandi and Seb. That’s what the Webcam title brings… It’s one of the only games able to do this— to be able to create a real online-reality celebrity. With over a hundred different locations logging on to the site every day, there is really no game like it.
