tribal council four - background

On Day 28, Bryan, the 17-year old student from Ohio, was the fourth person voted out of the game and third consecutive player to be voted out of the suffering Chock Dee tribe. After already facing two consecutive immunity loses, it was the Chock Dee tribe that had to do whatever it would take to win this critical challenge. To face another loss would mean facing another Tribal Council and yet another person out the door. After last week's harsh Tribal Council and the ejection of Ron, it was important now more than ever that the tribe work together to rebuild morale and spirit.

The tribe that has faced more downs than ups, tried everything in its power to re-gain some much needed spirit and determination. The conditions in the Chock Dee tribe were considerably more pleasant and quieter than the week prior.

Meanwhile back at Sanuk, the tiny tribe of four active players continued to take in their winning streak as a means of pushing themselves towards the top of the game. In this case, Immunity Challenge Four was no exception. With Ryan missing in action, it was up to Jason, Mitch and Mike to take immunity back to the tribe for the third consecutive time. Would it happen?

At Chock Dee, computer problems galore began plaguing the tribe. It began with Hanneli's AIM. Mere minutes before the challenge began, her AIM service cut her offline for several minutes. Having no means of contacting her tribe, a furious Hanneli posted a message in her tribe's forum, indicating them of the problem. After wrestling with the stubborn messaging service, Hanneli signed back on but two minutes too late. As the rules of this first live challenge stated: you had to be online before a certain time or you would not be permitted to take part in the challenge, regardless. Unamused by the situation, Hanneli left immediately to vent some steam off, meanwhile Simone and Bryan were the only two left to tackle this very strenuous challenge.

The game's first live challenge, a follow up to the previous week's relay race (swing challenge three), consisted of six tasks that had to be done in a cycle. In Chock Dee, Simone and Bryan were the only two present at the start of the challenge, meaning they would have to alternate back and forth as fast they could, to get the challenge done first. Sanuk, who had three players present would put their tribe at an advantage and lower the load for each person.

For Chock Dee, Hanneli's computer problems would not be the tribe's only computer problems. The first task of six consisted of a fairly simple manouver. Bryan, who volunteered to go first came to a huge roadblock when his internet came to a screeching halt. Lagged by his ISP and e-mail service, it took the Chock Dee member nearly 45 minutes to submit the first task. By this time, Hanneli had returned and Simone, unaware of why Bryan was taking so long, was helpless to do anything. It was this on-going string of bad luck that forced the ladies to do nothing than laugh. For Chock Dee, it was only humour that would keep morale up. With Sanuk on fire and Chock Dee falling way behind it was beginning to look pointless for them to continue but through it all, Simone still submitted her task (task two) but that was as far as she would get. Sanuk took only an hour to send all six tasks in and in a final score of 6-2, Sanuk claimed their third consecutive immunity in a row, sending Chock Dee back yet again, to Tribal Council.

At another heated Tribal Council, the question of loyalties split the tribe in half. Bryan, blamed for being the primary reason the tribe lost, was put on the chopping block. But it wasn't only Bryan who was vulnerable this time around. In a split vote 3-3, Mick and Bryan both received votes in the tribe's first tie. After being given an opportunity to sway a tribemate's vote, the four not tied, re-voted and the division became very apparent. Another 2-2 tie put the tribe in a deadlock position. At the tie-breaking challenge, Bryan, who faced internet problems at the challenge, faced internet problems again and as a result, met his own demise. Bryan was the fourth to depart from survivor-webcam 3.0.

Week five will test everything and new changes in the game will send shockwaves through the tribes and the players. It all leads up to an event that will change every single aspect of this game.

One loss after another. Being their third consecutive loss, the Chock Dee tribe faces the harsh reality of having to vote off another player in their tribe. After holding up the challenge for nearly 45 minutes, Bryan is put on the chopping block but with a tribe unsure about it's loyalties, the vote alone is split right down the middle...

tribal council four - tier one

Rob: How is everyone feeling tonight and how have you been doing since yesterday's loss?

Simone: rob, you might start believing that we like it here, and are coming back cos we are masochists, but that's not true.

Roger: im bummed about it but nothing that u can do about it now just still try to kick ass next time.

Hanneli: torn, but living.

Mick: this is gonna be a hard one..

Bryan: Im very disappointed in my performance. I am very frustrated .

Rob: You just never know in this game. Maybe you are masochists. Though that is highly unlikely. Well as you know, you'll be losing your third player tonight, yadda yadda yadda. I'm sure this is second nature to you by now...Not something you want, but something you have to do...

Mick: i wish stupid COLLEGTE didnt interfere so much - oh well - it wont nemore ... funny rob...

Simone: i have to say that this 24 hours has been the toughest so far by a long way. for me definitely.

Bryan: Yes,I agree with that.

Mick: i agree..especially b/c i didnt help..

Simone: i have struggled heaps with making a decision about my vote and even now, i'm not convinced i have the right of it. i'm about to break into tears here. shall i start taping?

Rob: Well tonight, this will be, for the Chock Dee tribe, a new beginning, we'll see...Simone, everyone still getting along in this tribe?

Simone: well i had my first actual argument today but even then, we agreed to disagree.

Rob: Mind elaborating on that?

Simone: people are trying really hard to be fair to everyone, and try to get the best possible result here for the whole tribe. pretty much this is the first time ever in a survivor game i've played in where i've told the person i'm voting for before TC how i'm voting.

Rob: What prompted you to make this decision?

Simone: and its the first time that i've ever been in a game where its been so hard for me to make a decision about how i vote. (I'm not finished on the last one - are you in a hurry?) Okay...(no not at all. i have lots of time). this TC, i'm not expecting a block vote, i think pretty much people are voting a conscience vote... and i hope that everyone is looking to do the best thing by the whole tribe, and not looking for personal power...and i honestly am expecting based on teh discussions i have had today that THAT is what is going to happen.

Mick: i think if we were all physically together we'd be holding hands..

Rob: Mick, is tonight's vote taking it's toll on tribe morale? Or are the spirits still high?

Mick: I think our spirits are always high..but right now - i do think Moral is lower than usual - this is a hard one for us all.

Rob: Anything in particular that you have done today to help you get through what you're about to do tonight?

Mick: Nothing specific.. i talked to my tribe..all of them. we're all close enough to where we can have real conversation..and thats what i did..i talked with them as i usually do..

Rob: Nothing strategic?

Mick: At points yes - but that wasnt the main focus ..but thats just parta the game.

Rob: Alright, thanks Mick. Hanneli. Yesterday's challenge really took it's toll on you specifically, how did you feel knowing that you could not compete in the challenge?

Hanneli: i felt terrible, and angry and it was beyond my control. there was nothing i could do about it. and i was terribly upset. and I used lots of foul language, which I do when i am under pressure/stress especially because i was here and acconted for at the start of the challenge, and then i couldnt help out when i was finally able to.

Rob: Was there anything in particular that frustrated you or was it generally everything?

Hanneli: yes, what frustrated me was aol instant messanger knocing me off.

Rob: When you finally did come into the challenge to observe it' progress, how did you feel?

Hanneli: i was upset. that such an easy challenge was being ruined. and then realized there was nothing i could have done anyhow, thats when i calmed down, because no matter if i was present or not, I could not do anything to alleviate the problem.

Rob: Thanks Hanneli. Bryan, computer technical problems galore took over your tribe yesterday, how do you feel knowing that your computer literally put your tribe's challenge to a standstill?

Bryan: My computer was lagging like something else! LOL I could not help that, but I will take the blame for the loss because the fact was, my lagging was the problem. However, I never wanted to quit. I tried and made an effort. It wasn't

Rob: Thanks Simone. Bryan, what is your take on this game? Is it still a game where you are a group of friends or is it now a game where everyoneis almost looking out forthemselves, while still trying to mesh as a group?

Bryan: Technically, this game as of right this second is supposed to be Chock Dee vs. Sanuk and for the most part, it is. But their is always that "what if.." ya know, we lose, "who do I vote for?" And...good enough, I know, but I tried. I made a valant effort. If I wanted to see us lose, I wouldn't have competed in three previous challenges and do a swing challenge. But I just try

Rob: Do you still think this game still an enjoyable one, despite these downfalls?

Bryan: DEFINATELY! I look forward to Mondays...LOL I wake up early for school, yeah, but I wait for the challenges at 11pm the night before with anticipation! I love them! I look forward to them and my tribe.Downfalls are PART of the game, not the total game.

Rob: Roger...if you look on the website you'll see three red X's, representing thefirst three people voted out of this game. How does it sit with you knowing that tonight, you could very well be departing?

Roger: im just as nervous as everyone else here should be....and today i spoke with everyone and i think im even more nervous now because no one wants to vote anyone out tonight so its going to be very intense and still a suprise on who. leaves tonight i just hope people realize for the most part ive been a contributer and i like everyone here and want to play a fun game. but tonight will be the hardest vote.

Rob: For you, what is the toughest aspect, twenty-eight days in?

Roger: now its just wondering what you have to do to benefit your tribe and yourself in this game. we are a big disadvantage now and it worries me that im done for in the game, but we all have to keep our heads up and make the best decisions possible that will benefit themselves and for now, the tribe we are all in

Rob: Thanks Roger. Simone, everyone pulling their own weight?

Simone: this is the tough question i guess this really is one of the major things i've had on my mind coming into this TC tonight. plain truth is, as ron pointed out last week, some people are doing more work than others. this isn't something that i want to point fingers over, but its true that a lot of people on this tribe have other commitments than the game and that it takes up their time. i've had LONG discussions today trying to work out where people stand, and i've been upfront with people, and said to them that if they can't start putting in the work, maybe they need to stand up and say they will go for the good of the rest of the tribe. nobody is putting their hand up though of course.

Rob: Thanks Simone. Mick, everyone pulling their own weight?

Mick: Haha! it's funny that you ask me.. I think things have gotten better - but i for one will admit that College Applications got in my way for the week - making me unavailable.. so i lagged..but those are done now..and i am ready to be here 120%!

Rob: Alright, thanks Mick. Bryan, everoyne pulling their own weight?

Bryan: I think for the most part everyone is trying. Effort is how I base this vote tonight. I think some people are pulling more weight than the rest. In that case, I guess somewhere someone isnt. Just try your best, thats all I ask.

Rob: Thanks, Bryan. Hanneli, everyone pulling their own weight?

Hanneli: no, not everyone is pulling their own weight, when we have a challenge posted, not everyone is present to talk about who can contribute what, and its kinda hard to volunteer people that may or may not be present

Rob: Thanks Hanneli. Roger, everyone pulling their own weight?

Roger: ok ill do the fast pretyped answer too...i think there are some that do a LOT more than everyone else and thats awesome cause they can and they help the tribe if someone cant make it, and then me and others that arent there 100% but we still do our best and i think at lesat most of us try our hardest when we can to do what is possible. so considering what situations they are in is whether they are pullin their weight.

Rob: Last Question: Well last week a lot of words were had in this tribe. Each of you can answer this question right now. Has this tribe come together to try and release the tension from last week?

Hanneli: the tension from lat week was merly that, from last week, there has not been any tension since then in my expert opinion.

Mick: I think with voting off Ron - we did release the tension..

Bryan: Definately! We talked to each other about last weeks Tribal Council and we got a lot of bottled up emotions in public view.

Hanneli: if theres any tensoion, its a different tension than that of last week.

Simone: i think the tension you saw in TC last week was really over one issue, and that issue has been resolved.

Roger: yeah everyone is ok now just having to deal with tonight that sucks.

Rob: Alright... Thanks guys... Well as you know, Chris could not make it tonight... He has prepared a message that I am to send off to you right now...So here's Chris' message...

Chris: "Hi guys. I'm so sorry I could not be here tonight, this wont be happening again, I promise. This past week has been super hard on me, and Id you all to know that I'm done with my show, and I'm ready to play hard again. We will not lose another challenge!!! This vote that I've made has been the hardest I've ever had to do. The fact is that I like every single one of you. We need to stick together tribe, and work on these challenges as one. I will be there, hopefully, to help out more than ever. To the person I voted for: Please forgive me... I really had a lot of trouble doing this..."

Rob: Alright, the question of individual immunity...Individual Immunity ran a little different lastnight... The person who had the shortest time to send in their submmission would be awarded this individual immunity...This means the time it took from the moment they got their task to the time they submitted it... Which, indeed means Simone is immune tonight...But...as you know, the powerof that immuniy is always up for bargaining or sharing, so to speak... Simone, you have that immunity, you can certainly choose to share it if you'd like...What is your choice?

Simone: I won't, not tonight.

Rob: Alright, plain and simple. Simone has decided not to share it which means the rest of you are fair game...

Simone: and if it was possible i'd hand immunity over. i wish we'd lost that swing. can i do that? hand immunity in?

Rob: Immunity is always up for bargaining in this game... If you feel you do not want it... This is an open forum to discuss that...

Simone: i want to hand it back to you rob. right now.

Rob: If you don't want it, you can certainly give it up...

Simone: take immunity off me. i'm serious.

Roger: wow.

hanneli: excuse toi.

Rob: Alright, no immunity for Simone. Should make for an interesting vote.... Jus to be clear, you are certain of this choice...

Simone: definitely. i don't want that to be what gets me into the next part of the game. i want people, my tribe to want me there. so if they don't i want to know now.

Rob: Alright. There is no immunity tonight. very powerful situation. It is time to vote...

the vote
Chris - I hated doing this, cause you are a really nice guy. But you, along with me, are both students, and we know that we don't have that much time. So, I had to choose, and I'd really like to stay in this game a bit longer. I've had some great chats with you, and I'm sorry I lied. Please forgive me. I'll see you on the outside.

Bryan - You voted in TC2 for the weakest player. So, since you only have competed in Challenge1, you get my vote. Sorry.

Mick - I am voting for Bryan - I dont know why - it's just a gut feeling. No hard feelings bro - yer a great guy!
Hanneli - [ view clip ]
Simone - [ view clip ]
Roger - this vote is the hardest by far, because everyone is pretty cool now but i think mick has done the least not his fault completely but he's had things goin on and comp probs that kept him from doin many hcallenges and i think thats whats important right now

Rob: Alright... Here's how things work in a tie vote... I will give both players an opportunity to speak... if they wish... You may talk to your tribe and tell them why you think they should keep you...over the other person... Mick I'll start with you... Is there anything you'd like to say?

Mick: Okay.. Look guys, I know that I haven't been around..I know that I haven't been active - and I am not at all suprised by this. My College stuff got in the way.. but that is all done now.. if you decide to keep me.. just know - that i will be the most active yet. i will be puntual..on time..and WIN every immunity that we get.. thats all i can promise.

Rob: Thanks, Mick. Bryan, your turn. Is there anything you'd like to address to your tribe?

Bryan: Sure... I have listened to you all and I realized i cannot make assumptions... and i dont... i deal strictly in facts... One fact is that... actions... speak louder than words... i cannot speak for Mick... but i have been a part of everyone challenge... and my effort will remain the same, i try my best. i wont promise you wins or loses, but hard effort. i respect you votes tonight though... i can only speak for myself... but, thats... all... yeah.

Rob: Thanks Bryan...Very powerful situation right now... Bryan and Mick have both given the four of you reasons why they should stay. Now, you gotta vote again. This time, only the four of you not tied will vote and you will only be voting for Bryan or Mick. Being Tier One, no previous votes count. It is time to vote...

Hanneli - stays the same
Chris - stays the same [ view clip ]
Simone - stays the same
Roger - this vote is the hardest by far, because everyone is pretty cool now but i think mick has done the least not his fault completely but he's had things goin on and comp probs that kept him from doin many hcallenges and i think thats whats important right now.

Rob: It's obvious this tribe is deadlocked. Which means we must now go to a tie-breaker. The fate of the two of you is now out of your tribemate's hands and solely in yours. This tie-breaker is a challenge that consists of survivor-related trivia. First person to answer incorrectly, is out, it's that simple. Everyone clear on that? You have three minutes to completely answer each question. We will go as long as it takes for one of you to answer incorrectly.

Rob: Some questions may be true or flase, multiple choice or require short answers. You have three minutes.

Question one: What is the correct name (correct spelling included) of the island in which Survivor: Thailand was filmed on? Begin...

Mick

Rob: Bryan, you did not submit, Mick you answered too late. Mick was right but you are both still in this.

Question two: Name one of the first four players to be eliminated in the beginning of this game. Spelling counts. Begin now.

Mick

Bryan

It came down to a matter of who submitted within the three minutes. Mick, you answered correctly, Bryan you answered correctly. Mick, you submitted in under three minutes. Bryan you did not, therefore you have been eliminated and Bryan, the tribe has spoken. It's time for you to go...

This has been a one of a kind Tribal Council, guys. Change is coming. Question is, can you handle it? Important treemail is coming. Goodnight, guys...
