What is
Survivor: Webcam?
Survivor: Webcam v1.0 is
an online reality game that pits 16 individuals up against one
another in head-to-head competition. They are essentially "stranded"
from their normal online World to take part in 70 Days of stiff
competition; something totally new and totally different; everyday
people in not-so-everyday circumstances. These 16 Webcam Castaways
have agreed to be put in front of the webcam for the duration
of the game until they are voted off. Challenges are based entirely
on the webcam. How well they perform the task and how fast they
do it, will determine which tribe wins immunity. Failure to complete
a challenge may result in the tribe's visitation with Tribal
Council. During the first 30 Days, the "16 Castaways,"
are split into 2 competing tribes, each containing 8 members
(4 males and four females). Challenges are performed every 5
days and must be completed within 24 hours unless otherwise stipulated.
The winning Tribe is awarded immunity and therefore will not
attend the proceeding tribal council. Every 5 days, someone is
voted out of the game at Tribal Council. Once 6 members have
been voted out of the game, both tribes merge into one distinct
tribe with a new name and new goal, "Individual Survival."
The game shifts from tribal survival to individual survival.
For the final 40 days, it is every person for themself. Again,
the castaways compete in Immunity Challenges every 5 days. The
winner of Immunity cannot be voted out at the proceeding tribal
council. Every 5 days, one member of the merged tribe is voted
out of the game. Every member that is voted out of the merged
tribe (excluding the first member), becomes a part of the Jury.
In the end, the Jury will grow to 7 ex-players (the outcasts).
These people will have the final over who will win the game.
In the Final Tribal Council, the power will shift from the players
still in the game to the ex-players that sit in the Jury. In
the end only one will remain and emerge as the sole survivor.
1. Confessions:
Like in all Survivor games,
there is always something going through your head about your
tribemates. Luckily, you can voice your thoughts by simply answering
a few questions every other day or so. From time-to-time, we
will be emailing all of you a short questionaire asking you specific
questions and/or asking you to explain the current state of your
tribe. This is your opportunity to voice your opinion. These
confessions will be put on the website for everyone to read but
they will be put in no particular order and will be completely
anonymous, unless otherwise stipulated. Spoiler information such
as player's strategy, unfortunately, cannot be disclosed unless
the player gives the host the permission to post it.
2. Updating Images:
Eventually, in each of
your profiles, you will have a photo album of all your pics from
your days spent in the game. This is a major rule. We require
each and every one of you to submit one brand-new photo of yourself
every other day (if not more regularily). These photos need to
be survivor-related so go wild! Go crazy when you send us your
Survivor Photos. Creativity most certainly stands for something
in this game. The host reserves the right to refuse any picture
that he feels is inappropriate. You may also be permitted to
have other people in your shots so long as they are showing support
for you or the game. If today is Day One, you will need to send
a new photo on Day Three. The Website will display what day you
are currently on. The website is updated constantly (daily).
Again, nudity and pornographic material is completely forbidden
in this game and will not be tolerated at any time. If you are
unsure about the quality of an image, always ask, before you
send it.
2a. Photo(s) of the
Day:
The website will always
have a photo or photos of the day from the images received from
players. Always remember there are no limits (except nudity,
as mentioned earlier).
3. Chats:
AOL Instant Messenger has
wonderful features that allow you to log and save group chats
with your tribe and/or individual chats with your tribemates.
In accordance with "invading your privacy" (not really,
but you get the idea), we require that each of you send us one
chat log/transcript each week of a conversation you had with
either you and somebody else (individual chats) or you and all
of your tribe (group chats). The host reserves the right to log
any conversations that take place when he is present in a chatroom
with a tribe. The host will not log any private conversations
conducted between him and individual players. The Host is available
for basic help on AOL.
4. Survivor Insider:
If you feel you have something
really good to say that wasn't brought up in a confession period,
we encourage all of you to send us other comments or issues you
are having in the game. Everything in Survivor: Insider is posted
at the sole discretion of the players and what they wish to disclose.
Survivor: Insider contains a little bit of everything.
5. Challenges:
There is no sure way to
prepare for a challenge. The only advice I can offer all of you
is to constantly check the website. Challenges are posted on
the website. When a Challenge is to begin always log onto AOL
then check the website. You normally have 24 hours to complete
a challenge unless otherwise indicated. Challenges will always
involve the webcam but other elements may be incoroporated (ie.
your ability to write). ALWAYS wear your tribal colours during
an Immunity Challenge.
6. Tribal Councils:
Tribal Councils are easy,
well, not really. They aren't easy for the person who gets the
boot but they do make the game look and feel real. In this particular
game, your tribal colours mean life. As long as you are wearing
your colours to Challenges and Tribal Councils, you are still
in the game. Once they are gone, the game is over for you. Tribal
Council will be conducted live on AIM. The full procedure for
doing Tribal Councils are explained whenthe game begins.
7. Final Words:
As part of the game, we
ask that when you are voted out, you send us one final picture
(any kind of good-bye picture, there are no limits, just nudity)
and a short write-up of how you feel about leaving the game,
how it has impacted you, etc. You can say anything in your final
words. Your final words and final image will then be put on the
website front page until the next person is voted out. In addiiton
to final words, every player is permitted to their "post-game"
interview. All post-game interviews are posted in the "Outcast
Interviews" section.
8. iVisit:
iVisit is merely a tool
for you all to conference chat on. There might (big might) be
a challenge done there but that has not yet been determined.
9. Prize Money &
Distribution:
The Winner of the game
recieves the final cash prize, less 10%. (ex. If the final prize
pot is 500 dollars, you will win 500 dollars MINUS 50 dollars
= 450 dollars. The Runner-up wins 10% of the Prize pot (in this
example, you would win 50 dollars). The actual prize money amount
as stipulated on the main page is dependent on the ratio of Canadian/American
currency donated, and any other applicable currency rates and/or
Paypal processing fees. Survivor: Webcam, at no time, collects
any royalties from donations, for the purposes of profit. All
money donated, goes directly to the winner and runner-up as explained.
10. Game Changes &
Alterations:
The castaways are well-aware
that the host reserves the right to change the game at any time
(ie. switch, swaps, splits and other twist n' turns). The host
is at no time, responsible for any change in strategy of the
players involved in these game alterations and assumes no liability
thereafter.
11. Game Conduct Disclaimer:
The Host of Survivor: Webcam
assumes no liability at any time, for any conflicts that arise
within the game between a) players or; b) players and audience/readers.
Survivor: Webcam waives all responsiblity for any actions conveyed
by anyone involved in the game or viewing the game for it's duration
and anytime thereafter. Castaways are responsible for their own
behaviour in the game within the limitations set out by the rules,
when they are accepted to play. Castaways are aware of these
disclaimers upon joining the game.
12. Game Play Rules:
Rules? Who said anything
about rules? Probably the best part of this game is the fact
that there are no rules. How you play and how you strategize
is solely up to you.
